After an outage of more than 40 minutes, social networking website Facebook and its photo sharing service Instagram are back online.
Facebook, appeared to be down on Tuesday morning (Indian time), and the social media site acknowledged there was an issue without getting into the details. The company’s photo sharing website Instagram too was down with users experiencing issues logging in.
“Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can,” Facebook returned this error when users tried to login.
Users from the United States and India reported that they were unable to log on to the website.
According to a Reuters report, Facebook executives were not immediately available for comment. Some users also reported that dating app Tinder was also down.
Interestingly, a number of users responded with hilarious tweets about the outage on Twitter, tagging their tweets with the hashtag #SocialMeltdown2015.
