In a bid to woo first-time mobile Internet users in India, leading telecom provider Bharti Airtel has launched a one-of-its-kind ‘One Touch Internet’ portal initiative.
The initiative will help first-time mobile Internet users to learn and get acquainted with the scheme of things as far as using mobile data is concerned. The portal is an evident attempt by the service provider to tap into the steadily growing mobile data users across the country, thus increasing its user base in the process.
The One Touch Internet service is geared to help first-time mobile Internet users get through their initial hiccups of using mobile data services by acting as a one-point destination for all information regarding Airtel’s various popular services concerning mobile Internet. The WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) portal will essentially work as a guide providing users free online tutorials with free Internet access for a period of 10 days during which first-time users can work around social networking websites, watch videos or indulge in online shopping without having to pay anything.
The service is currently available for prepaid mobile customers on Airtel (both 2G and 3G) only. Users have the option of either dialling in 111 or simply visiting http://one.airtel.in on their mobile phones web browsers to get the tutorials. As of now, the tutorials will be available English and Hindi only. Airtel plans on adding 8 other Indian vernacular languages to the list in the coming few weeks.
